The Zoology program at SIU Carbondale equips students for diverse opportunities including roles with conservation organizations, admission to medical/veterinary programs, advanced academic research, or various life science careers.
The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program caters to those aspiring to scientific animal research careers. Students select a focus area: Animal Biology, Environmental Biology, Fisheries Biology and Aquatic Conservation, Pre-Veterinary Science, or Wildlife Biology and Conservation. Additionally, we provide Marine Biology studies through our collaboration with the University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Coast Research Laboratory.
The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) program suits students pursuing non-scientific professions requiring animal expertise. B.A. candidates are encouraged to pair their Zoology major with a complementary second major or minor. Specialized course guidance is available for those aiming for zoo keeping careers.
