The Pre-Art Therapy program is a joint initiative between the Art and Design Department and Behavioral Sciences Department, blending mental health practices with artistic expression. This program equips students for entry into master's programs specializing in art therapy or counseling degrees with an art therapy focus.
Art therapy combines creative practice with psychological principles to enhance wellbeing. Participants gain comprehensive knowledge about therapeutic applications, theoretical frameworks, and professional opportunities when applying to recognized graduate programs in art therapy or counseling.
Students develop skills to articulate and justify artistic choices through verbal, visual, and written communication.
Students examine the societal and moral implications of artistic work.
Students evaluate visual design challenges, integrate concepts, and produce work accompanied by explanatory written or verbal rationale.
Students master both conventional artistic methods and digital competencies relevant to the art and design field.
Students become proficient with specialized tools and technologies while developing an educated perspective on art historical contexts.
Students must have official transcripts and marks from your high school or college/university. We require a 2.0 minimum GPA for all the incoming freshmen students.
Minimum English Requirements (must meet one of the following)
A score of 500 or higher on the written TOEFL
A score of 173 or higher on the computerized TOEFL
A score of 61 or higher on the internet-based TOEFL
A score of Band 5.5 (overall) on the IELTS
A score of 43 or higher on PTE (Pearson Test of English)
A score of 90 or higher on Duolingo
