This program equips students for teaching careers and advanced studies in literature and linguistics, while also laying the groundwork for various demanding professional paths.
The Modern Languages Department's purpose is to deliver a crucial component of liberal arts education, using language studies, literary analysis, and writing skills to cultivate students' critical thinking, appreciation for diversity, ethical principles, and effective communication in an international context.
Students can pursue Bachelor of Arts degrees in either English or Foreign Languages. The English curriculum benefits both general students and those aiming for graduate studies, emphasizing articulate writing and analytical reading across English, American, and global literary works.
The program readies students for educational careers and academic research in language and literature, while simultaneously preparing them for diverse professional fields. The foreign language track enhances students' Spanish or French skills in listening, reading, and writing. Additionally, the department provides instruction in Chinese and Russian. Graduates with foreign language expertise discover career opportunities across numerous professional sectors.
Students must have official transcripts and marks from your high school or college/university. We require a 2.0 minimum GPA for all the incoming freshmen students.
Minimum English Requirements (must meet one of the following)
A score of 500 or higher on the written TOEFL
A score of 173 or higher on the computerized TOEFL
A score of 61 or higher on the internet-based TOEFL
A score of Band 5.5 (overall) on the IELTS
A score of 43 or higher on PTE (Pearson Test of English)
A score of 90 or higher on Duolingo
