To complete the biochemistry doctoral program, students need to accumulate 90 credits (or 60 credits if they already hold a master's degree). This includes at least 24 credits from coursework, with the rest dedicated to dissertation research. Seminar participation accounts for 3 of these 24 credits. Students must complete the biochemistry core curriculum (listed below).
Faculty research in the Department's biochemistry program explores diverse areas including membrane chemistry, computational modeling of cellular signaling, FRET-imaging techniques for studying protein interactions, biophysical aspects of leukocyte regulation, structural biology, proteomics, protein mechanisms, disease-related cellular processes, and light-induced biochemical reactions.
