The Associate in Arts in Sociology for Transfer (AA-T) program at Skyline College is designed for students aiming to transfer to a California State University (CSU) with a Sociology major or related field. Graduates will develop Sociological Imagination, allowing them to critically examine personal experiences within broader social contexts. This sociology degree prepares students for advanced studies in sociology, psychology, political science, and other social sciences. It also provides valuable foundational knowledge for careers in law, medicine, business, education, law enforcement, and social work, as well as roles in private companies, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
Earning an AA-T degree ensures admission to the CSU system, though not to a specific campus or program. Transfer students to accepting CSU campuses will need to complete a maximum of 60 additional units to obtain their bachelor's degree.
While the AA-T guarantees CSU admission, it doesn't secure placement at a particular campus or in a specific major. Transfer students may need up to 60 more units at a CSU to graduate. This pathway might not suit those targeting a specific CSU campus, non-CSU universities, or private colleges. Prospective students should meet with a Skyline College counselor to discuss transfer details and admission criteria. All major courses require a C grade or better (or Pass for Pass/No Pass options), and some may fulfill general education requirements.
