The Associate in Science in Public Health for Transfer (AS-T) offered at Skyline College is tailored for students aiming to transfer to a California State University (CSU) with a focus on Public Health or a related field. This program equips students with foundational knowledge for higher education in public health and community health education. Participants examine the intricate, evolving factors influencing individual and community well-being across local, national, and international contexts. The curriculum covers environmental, social, behavioral, and political influences on chronic and infectious diseases, health inequities, early mortality, disease outbreaks, and potential solutions.
Graduates with an AS-T degree secure guaranteed admission to the CSU system, though specific campuses or majors are not assured. Those transferring to a CSU accepting the AS-T will need to complete a maximum of 60 additional units to obtain a bachelor's degree. This pathway may not suit students targeting a specific CSU campus, private university, or non-CSU institution. Prospective students are encouraged to meet with a Skyline College counselor to discuss admission and transfer details. All courses counting toward the major require a grade of C or higher, or a Pass if taken on a Pass/No Pass basis. Major requirements may also fulfill general education criteria.
