Our graduate programs cater to both M.A. and Ph.D. students. Those pursuing a Master's degree engage with sociology through intensive seminars, structured coursework led by distinguished faculty, and exploration of diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives. Ph.D. candidates can delve into specialized studies covering theory, research methods, social movements, gender studies, religious sociology, cultural analysis, power dynamics, environmental sociology, racial and ethnic studies, community research, and social stratification. An optional focus on criminology, deviance, and criminal justice enables doctoral students to concentrate a significant portion of their studies in these fields.
Graduate students benefit from dedicated resources including a private departmental library, a student lounge, and a modern computer lab featuring high-speed printing and specialized software like Nvivo, SAS, and SPSS. Our recent Ph.D. graduates have secured tenure-track positions at institutions including Augusta State University, Minnesota State University Moorhead, SUNY Brockport, University of Northern Iowa, Eastern Illinois University, Yeungnam University, Mississippi State University, among others.
