Visual and Sound Media majors select a specialization from five distinct fields: Digital Cinema Production, Media Studies, Sound Engineering and Production, Sports Media, or Television Production. This curriculum enables students to explore the intricate connections among media, culture, and society, helping them develop as filmmakers, creative professionals, analysts, and engaged community members both locally and internationally. From their freshman year onward, students can participate in various hands-on learning experiences such as Pirate TV, the university's student-operated television channel, or WSOU 89.5 FM, the award-winning campus radio station that recently earned a Marconi Award.
