Founded in 1970, Seton Hall's Africana Studies program stands as New Jersey's pioneering interdisciplinary initiative, offering in-depth academic exploration while promoting social transformation, racial equity, and justice. Learners benefit from instruction by multidisciplinary professors who are recognized experts across various disciplines including political science, history, religious studies, literary arts, and beyond. The curriculum challenges students to examine both past and present realities of African diaspora communities across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and other regions. This program brings together a vibrant collective of academics dedicated to investigating and celebrating Black heritage. Enrichment opportunities like speaker series, practical internships, grassroots organizing, and other activities allow students to complement their classroom learning with real-world engagement.
