The Master of Arts in Criminal Justice (MACJ) is an interdisciplinary degree program providing an in-depth, challenging examination of crime and society's approaches to addressing it. We concentrate on applying theoretical frameworks and research methodologies to shape policies, programs, and professional practices. Special attention is given to ethical considerations in criminal justice, diversity challenges, analytical reasoning, and management skills. Graduates pursue rewarding careers across all criminal justice fields, such as policing, judicial systems, correctional facilities, social work, policy development, and academic research. While not mandatory, we strongly encourage internship opportunities. Our students have gained practical experience with numerous agencies at federal, state, and municipal levels, including the DEA, FBI, various King County offices (Prosecutor, Medical Examiner, Sheriff), Pioneer Human Services, multiple city police departments (Seattle, Redmond, Bellevue), U.S. Marshals Service, Secret Service, Washington State Corrections, State Patrol Crime Laboratory, and the Attorney General's Office.
