We warmly invite you to join us in exploring global perspectives. The Modern Languages and Cultures Department focuses on holistic education, aiming to develop future professionals who champion social justice and possess the necessary skills to implement it both locally and internationally. Through our Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish programs, students gain: Fluency in languages and key abilities to form significant personal and intellectual bonds within global networks. Worldview-expanding knowledge, methods, and experiences. The capacity for inclusivity, respectful engagement, and cultural appreciation through effective cross-cultural communication. Skills for intercultural collaboration. Our academic offerings serve as pathways to developing global citizenship. We strive to nurture culturally aware, ethical leaders committed to uplifting underrepresented groups and advancing collective welfare across diverse populations.
Every course we offer is designed to broaden students' intellectual horizons and cultural understanding while promoting inclusive academic excellence and career readiness. Many students pair a French or Spanish Major, or an Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish Minor with another Bachelor of Arts degree.
