Seattle Central College's Sustainable Urban Agriculture and Food Systems program equips students and community members with expertise in agroecology, natural resource stewardship, and environmental conservation. Focusing on organic urban farming in western Washington, this program prepares participants to oversee sustainable production systems that form the foundation of robust, fair, and community-based food networks through these academic pathways:
Sustainable Urban Agriculture and Food Systems Associate of Science Transfer: Track 1 (AS-T: Track 1) Degree (minimum 107 credits)

Explain ecological foundations governing agroecosystems across various scales, highlighting how plant biodiversity and soil characteristics influence both natural environments and human communities.
Cultivate regionally suitable vegetables, shrubs, and trees by understanding their specific growth needs within diverse planting strategies like intercropping, rotational systems, and extended growing seasons.
Utilize agroecological and permaculture approaches to address urban farming challenges, creating comprehensive micro-farm operations and business strategies from seed propagation to local market distribution.
