Biology serves as the cornerstone for understanding life and all living beings, encompassing their physical makeup, chemical processes, functions, growth, and evolutionary changes. Our goal is to equip you with cutting-edge biological knowledge and practical lab experience in the life sciences. We design each course to prepare students for A.A./A.S. degrees, university transfer programs, and careers in Allied Health fields (such as nursing and dental hygiene), biotechnology, and environmental conservation. We also offer courses tailored for non-science majors. A biology background proves invaluable for careers in medicine, lab sciences, or research. While not mandatory, majoring in biology greatly benefits those aiming for medical, dental, pharmacy, or veterinary schools.
Our two-year transfer programs allow you to complete introductory coursework at Seattle Colleges at significantly lower costs before transitioning to a four-year university with enhanced skills and readiness. We strongly recommend collaborating with both Seattle Colleges' transfer advisors and your intended four-year institution. Depending on your academic path, you can pursue an Associate of Arts (AA-DTA), Associate in Business (AB-DTA), or Associate of Science (AS) degree, with Track 1 or Track 2 options available.
