SAIC's Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago stands as one of the Midwest's longest-running professional art therapy programs. This three-year program encourages analytical thinking, empowering students to shape their educational journey, challenge prevailing perspectives in the discipline, and contribute fresh insights.
Students pursuing the MA in Art Therapy and Counseling must fulfill these requirements:
Completion of 60 credit hours combining coursework and practical fieldwork
Two supervised clinical placements at accredited institutions, accumulating a minimum of 1,000 hours under licensed art therapists and qualified mental health practitioners
Development of an academic thesis or capstone project
Involvement in the yearly exhibition featuring creative works by final-year MA candidates and their internship clients
