The Registered Nursing Program is designed for qualified individuals seeking to become staff nurses in hospitals and healthcare facilities. This program has received approval from the California State Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and holds accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Earning an Associate Degree with a Nursing major from SBCC enables graduates to sit for the State Board Examination to become licensed registered nurses.

Students progress through four semesters of coursework designed to prepare them for RN licensure. On-campus nursing classes are complemented by hands-on clinical training at local hospitals and healthcare providers. Students with prior experience may qualify for advanced placement based on demonstrated clinical skills and nursing knowledge. Eligible students can challenge certain nursing courses through prior education or experience, following college guidelines. To graduate, students must maintain at least a C in all required and support courses, along with a 2.0 overall GPA for SBCC coursework.

Prospective students must submit a separate application for the ADN program, available on the SBCC School of Nursing website. Required documents include official high school/GED transcripts, college transcripts showing prerequisite completion, and transcripts from all previously attended colleges, submitted to the Health Technologies Office. Monthly information sessions about the application process and curriculum are offered during the academic year.
