The Music Department delivers an extensive curriculum tailored to offer diverse musical opportunities for both casual college participants and aspiring professional musicians. Our program equips music majors with a solid foundation in creative disciplines (theory, composition, interpretation) and performance skills (applied music, history, appreciation). SBCC boasts exceptional facilities including top-tier performance spaces, complimentary instrument access, private practice rooms, and specialized resources to support student learning and artistic growth.
The Associate in Arts in Music for Transfer degree (AA-T in Music) prepares students with essential knowledge for seamless transition to a Bachelor's program in Music at CSU institutions. Participants enhance their musical abilities through theory, musicianship training, and performance development on their principal instrument or voice.
Graduates of high schools or equivalent are eligible for admission, with the equivalent of a GPA of 2.0 or better.
Students must be 18 years or older by the start of the semester without restrictions.
