The Music Department delivers an extensive curriculum tailored to offer diverse musical opportunities for all students, whether pursuing general education or professional music careers.
Music majors gain a solid foundation in both creative disciplines (theory, composition, interpretation) and performance-based studies (applied music, history, and appreciation).
For students focused on commercial music, the department provides a specialized certificate program covering jazz, audio recording, electronic music, songwriting, and arrangement techniques.
SBCC's state-of-the-art facilities boast exceptional performance spaces, complimentary instrument access, private practice rooms, and specialized resources to support students' musical development and success.
Graduates of high schools or equivalent are eligible for admission, with the equivalent of a GPA of 2.0 or better.
Students must be 18 years or older by the start of the semester without restrictions.
