The Liberal Studies: Emphasis in Education Degree equips students to transition into a Liberal Studies Teacher Education bachelor's program. This degree offers flexibility in course selection to fulfill lower-division prerequisites for the Liberal Studies program at their intended transfer institution. Most UC and CSU system Liberal Studies Teacher Education programs have articulation agreements accessible through the ASSIST website.
Since Liberal Studies Teaching Education programs vary by university, students should work closely with an SBCC academic counselor when choosing courses for their Associate Degree. This ensures they meet the specific lower-division requirements of their target transfer institution's Liberal Studies program.
