Regardless of age, social status, or profession, people constantly engage in communication. Speaking and listening occupy more of human time than nearly any other activity. Effective communication is both crucial and omnipresent—our achievements frequently hinge on our ability to convey ideas clearly and interpret others accurately.
The Communication Department's program explores diverse communication contexts, including personal interactions, team dynamics, professional environments, public speaking, mass media, and cross-cultural exchanges. The curriculum also covers debate techniques and communication principles. Research indicates that strong communication skills top employers' wish lists for potential hires.
Through the Applied Communication Emphasis, students gain core competencies in Communication Studies, learning to apply these skills across multiple scenarios—from one-on-one conversations and team collaborations to organizational communication, public presentations, media interactions, and intercultural exchanges.
Graduates of high schools or equivalent are eligible for admission, with the equivalent of a GPA of 2.0 or better.
Students must be 18 years or older by the start of the semester without restrictions.
