The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering offers Engineering Management, a focused discipline that integrates engineering methodologies with business operations. This field combines engineering's technical expertise with management's leadership, planning, and organizational skills to guide intricate projects from start to finish.
Engineering Management curricula commonly cover subjects like accounting, economics, financial management, systems engineering, mathematical analysis, quality assurance, operations research, personnel management, industrial psychology, and workplace safety. SJSU's program specifically highlights quality control and six sigma, statistical methods, business finance basics, cost-benefit analysis, corporate ethics, logistics engineering, and systems design. Students can expand their business acumen through elective courses in areas like project coordination, workforce management, and operational analysis.
U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, or the completion of a 4-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited, and approved institution from a country outside of the U.S. A 2.5 GPA (from the 0.0-4.0 U.S. grading scale) in the last degree completed or a 2.5 GPA in the last two years of full-time study.
