Established in 1947 by the Department of Public Health and Recreation, the recreation degree program holds accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Park, Recreation, and Tourism Related Professions (COAPRT). This nationally recognized program has maintained its accredited status without interruption since first receiving it in April 1987, showcasing the quality and reputation of our curriculum. The Bachelor's in Recreation features a core curriculum divided between concentration-specific courses and major electives, with graduates qualifying for both state and national certification. While the general recreation track offers maximum flexibility in elective selection, students can opt for specialized study through one of two approved concentrations: Recreation Management or Recreation Therapy. Additionally, we provide an M.S. in Recreation program, all designed to address the rising demand for skilled recreation professionals and leaders across public, nonprofit, and commercial sectors at local, regional, national, and international levels.
