The Department of Nutrition, Food Science, and Packaging provides a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science with a Dietetics specialization. This Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) equips students with the essential competencies, knowledge, and skills needed for contemporary and future dietetics careers. The curriculum fosters critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in clinical nutrition, community nutrition, and food service management. Supporting coursework draws from social sciences, physical sciences, and life sciences. Students can choose elective courses beyond their major or pursue minors in fields like business, chemistry, education, gerontology, health science, human performance, journalism, or other disciplines. The program also prepares graduates for advanced degrees (M.S.) and post-baccalaureate opportunities such as Dietetic Internships. This concentration is ideal for those pursuing careers as professional nutritionists or dietitians.
Students must Earn a high school diploma, or equivalent and earn the equivalent of a U.S. 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or an average of “B” grades. Successfully complete three years of college preparatory mathematics with a minimum grade of “C-” or better.
English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.0, TOEFL – 61 (IBT), Paper based – 500; Pearson Test of English (PTE) – 44.
