The Composition program at SJSU, housed within the School of Music, delivers a comprehensive and varied exploration of musical composition, incorporating training in electro-acoustic techniques, recording technology, and film scoring. Central to this curriculum are one-on-one composition tutorials, with frequent chances for students to have their pieces performed by peers, instructors, and professional artists. Composition majors participate in regular group sessions with faculty and visiting composers to present and critique their works. This program requires students to finish junior and senior capstone projects alongside their standard coursework.
