The Department of World Languages and Literatures empowers students to communicate confidently and succeed in an interconnected world. Our diverse programs feature multicultural faculty and students, with a curriculum designed for global engagement.
Students can pursue majors and minors in four globally prominent languages: Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, French, and Spanish, along with a Spanish M.A. program. Additional options include language minors in International Business, Portuguese, German, Asian Studies, and Latin American Studies, plus teaching credential programs for French, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish.
We provide language and cultural studies in Hebrew, Filipino/Tagalog, Russian, and Vietnamese. Alumni pursue careers as educators, corporate leaders, linguists, government professionals, media specialists, and various roles in international commerce and finance.
Students must Earn a high school diploma, or equivalent and earn the equivalent of a U.S. 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or an average of “B” grades. Successfully complete three years of college preparatory mathematics with a minimum grade of “C-” or better.
English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.0, TOEFL – 61 (IBT), Paper based – 500; Pearson Test of English (PTE) – 44.
