The Global Studies program, housed within the Department of Environmental Studies, takes an interdisciplinary approach to examining our world as an interconnected system. With unprecedented human migration, global trade flows, technological exchange, and cultural blending, there's growing need to analyze our planet as an integrated human society through fresh perspectives. This program equips emerging leaders with tools to address critical contemporary challenges from a worldwide viewpoint. By exploring global concerns through diverse lenses, students gain both theoretical grounding and practical abilities in analysis and communication - preparing them for professions in government, education, nonprofits, international development, philanthropy, legal fields, consulting, global health, writing, and advanced academic pursuits. As the sole Global Studies program in the San Francisco Bay Area and among few in the CSU system with interdisciplinary coursework, we offer unique core curriculum in this emerging discipline. Our program stands at the forefront of defining this dynamic field's future direction.
