The Bachelor of Arts in Geography program, provided by the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, equips students with the ability to analyze our surroundings and decipher both human and natural patterns across the planet. This flexible major offers a solid grounding in human, physical, and regional geography while allowing customization through elective courses. At SJSU, the curriculum emphasizes technological proficiency, particularly in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications. Geography plays a vital role in enhancing global awareness, and our dedicated faculty collaborates closely with students to cultivate career-ready skills and prepare them for advanced academic pursuits.
Students must Earn a high school diploma, or equivalent and earn the equivalent of a U.S. 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or an average of “B” grades. Successfully complete three years of college preparatory mathematics with a minimum grade of “C-” or better.
English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.0, TOEFL – 61 (IBT), Paper based – 500; Pearson Test of English (PTE) – 44.
