The SF State Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program enables students to obtain their degree through a combination of in-person and hybrid classes in downtown San Francisco. Our NASPAA-accredited program leads the way in hybrid education delivery.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we successfully transitioned to remote instruction (including online, hybrid, and Zoom-based classes) and are excited to offer a full course lineup for Spring and Fall 2022.

Our curriculum emphasizes the interconnection between policy and administration while promoting public service values like accountability, civic participation, equity, social justice, and sustainability. The program develops essential knowledge and analytical skills in public policy, administration, and research. Specializations include criminal justice, environmental management, gerontology, nonprofit leadership, public management, public policy, and urban administration. Students can also create custom concentrations by selecting relevant courses across the university. Graduates leave with a professional portfolio showcasing their acquired skills through evaluated work samples, demonstrating core competencies vital for public and nonprofit sector success. Students share selected coursework and program achievements on our platform to network with professionals in the field.
