The Master of Arts in Women and Gender Studies takes an interdisciplinary approach, allowing students to blend required and optional courses in Women and Gender Studies with electives from various departments throughout the university. This program examines women's issues, gender dynamics, and feminist perspectives within global and culturally diverse frameworks, equipping students to thoughtfully analyze concepts like gender, race, sexuality, nationality, social class, work, and physical ability. Candidates conclude their graduate studies by developing a final project under faculty guidance. This program facilitates in-depth exploration of women's historical roles and impacts across societies, while investigating connections between feminist thought, societal/international systems, and the construction of gender and sexual identities.

Qualification Requirements

To be admitted to the program, students must meet all general University requirements. The most competitive candidates will have a minimum of 9 to 12 undergraduate WGS or equivalent units with previous work in the feminist study of some or all of the following areas: race, gender, sexuality, colonialism, labor, and disability. Students are expected to possess a GPA of at least 3.0 in the last 60 semester units attempted for the bachelor's degree.
Have a 3.0 GPA in their earned undergraduate degree or in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units completed, or have earned a post-baccalareate degree.
Applicants must provide the department graduate admissions committee with the following items:

transcripts of all previous coursework, IELTS - 6.5, TOEFL IBT-80, PBT-550, PTE- 59
