The Bachelor of Science in Physics with a Teaching Concentration prepares students for careers in middle or high school education. This curriculum emphasizes core physics principles combined with hands-on lab experience and practical classroom teaching opportunities. Through elective courses, students can broaden their expertise in supplementary subjects valuable for educators, such as mathematics, general science, or chemistry. The program also offers a physics single subject matter option, allowing students to showcase their readiness for teacher credential programs. Recommended high school prerequisites consist of two years of algebra, one year of geometry, a trigonometry semester, plus one year each of chemistry and physics. Basic computer programming knowledge is beneficial. College students, particularly those without extensive high school chemistry background, are highly encouraged to enroll in CHEM 115, CHEM 215, and CHEM 216 during their freshman year.
