The Department of Political Science helps students become engaged, knowledgeable citizens both locally and worldwide. Our program covers four key areas: American Politics, Comparative Politics, Political Theory, and Public Law, deepening students' understanding of how political power, institutions, values, and practices vary across history and regions, and how they can be changed. Faculty mentor students in developing critical thinking and active participation as politically aware individuals dedicated to social justice, transparency, and civic involvement. Graduates gain valuable knowledge and abilities that lead to various career paths. The political science undergraduate program builds understanding, analytical capabilities, and critical perspectives on political systems and challenges. This foundation prepares students for meaningful participation in civic affairs, whether as informed voters or professionals in diverse fields. We expose students to timeless political questions that have captivated scholars and leaders throughout history while providing modern tools for research, analysis, and policy development. Graduates will understand fundamental aspects of the U.S. political system and gain comparative insights into global political structures.
