The Cell and Molecular Biology Program (CMB) within the Biology Department plays a key role in establishing San Diego State as the top small research institution in the nation. CMB ranks among the most robust research programs in the California State University system, evidenced by its grant funding, faculty achievements, graduate degrees conferred, and student outcomes. CMB's purpose is to deliver outstanding research and education in cellular and molecular biology. We aim to equip future scientists with premier training through hands-on research, instruction, guidance, and academic engagement. The Molecular Biology Institute (MBI) at San Diego State oversees the Molecular Biology Master's program, bringing together faculty primarily from Biology and Chemistry Departments to strengthen research collaboration and advance education in molecular life sciences.
