The Public Administration program equips students for leadership roles in government, community organizations, non-profits, planning firms, and private sector entities collaborating with public institutions. Modern society increasingly relies on the functions of governmental and non-profit entities. As this sector expands, so does the need for skilled, principled public administrators. SDSU's School of Public Affairs addresses this demand through its Master of Public Administration program, which focuses on achieving five core competencies:
Develop leadership and management skills for public governance
Engage effectively in policy development and implementation
Employ critical thinking for problem-solving and decision-making
Demonstrate and uphold public service values
Communicate effectively within diverse and evolving work environments and communities
