The School Psychology Program is a comprehensive four-year graduate-professional curriculum leading to an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology and California's Pupil Personnel Services Credential for School Psychology. San Diego State University's School Psychology Program holds accreditation from both the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP; additional details can be found in NASP's Annual Program Data). This rigorous four-year program prepares professionals to become school psychologists - skilled practitioners who support students' academic achievement, social development, behavioral growth, and emotional wellbeing across diverse educational settings. These specialists foster collaborative partnerships between schools, families, and communities to drive meaningful educational improvements.
Employing research-backed methodologies and data-driven approaches, school psychologists develop prevention programs, implement targeted interventions, cultivate safe and stimulating learning environments, and enhance institutional policies and procedures. As catalysts for positive transformation, school psychologists work with multicultural populations to champion educational equity and accessibility for all learners.
