The Department provides two combined BS/MS (4+1) degree options. These programs are designed for students excelling in the BSME curriculum who, based on the Department's assessment, can manage the demands of an integrated program and finish within five years. Applicants should submit their applications during Junior Year to begin fulfilling MS requirements alongside their remaining BSME coursework if accepted. Minimum eligibility criteria include a cumulative GPA of 3.0, an upper-division GPA of 3.0, and grades of B or above in ME 304, 350, and 360. Successful applicants typically demonstrate performance exceeding these minimum standards.

Qualification Requirements

If you are graduating from a high school outside of the United States, your application will be reviewed on the following admission criteria Completion of high school/secondary level. A certified copy of graduation certificate or diploma will be required prior to enrollment at SDSU. Review the Requirements by Country for country specific information. A minimum U.S. equivalent GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 (B grade or 80 percent) or higher. English Proficiency: If you are attending or have attended a high school where English was not the primary language of instruction, you must meet university-level competence in English through one of the following: TOEFL – Passing score is 80 iBT and 550 paper or higher. IELTS – Passing overall score is 6.5 or higher.
