Our BA Theatre Arts (Performance emphasis) program equips students for outstanding achievement across all theatre disciplines, offering abundant performance opportunities. The curriculum immerses students in comprehensive theatre training while allowing them to customize their educational journey. Students can specialize in acting, musical theatre (audition-based classes available), or create their own blend of both disciplines. Those specifically interested in Musical Theatre should explore our dedicated B.A. in Musical Theatre program. Performance majors develop essential acting techniques through our foundational Acting 1-3 courses, complemented by Voice and Movement training at all levels. Diverse elective options enable students to expand their professional skills with specialized training in various areas.
Our Theatre Arts programs foster excellence across all theatre disciplines. Both undergraduate and graduate curricula engage students in every facet of theatre production, including performance (acting and musical theatre), design (sets, costumes, lighting, sound), dramaturgy, stage management, and innovative theatre technologies.

Qualification Requirements
If you are graduating from a high school outside of the United States, your application will be reviewed on the following admission criteria Completion of high school/secondary level. A certified copy of graduation certificate or diploma will be required prior to enrollment at SDSU. Review the Requirements by Country for country specific information.
A minimum U.S. equivalent GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 (B grade or 80 percent) or higher.
English Proficiency: If you are attending or have attended a high school where English was not the primary language of instruction, you must meet university-level competence in English through one of the following:
TOEFL Passing score is 80 iBT and 550 paper or higher.
IELTS Passing overall score is 6.5 or higher.
