Our linguistics curriculum aims to teach students and the broader community about language's essential characteristics, organization, and role as a fundamental human trait. Since language research intersects with multiple fields (including psychology, social sciences, cognitive science, philosophy, literature, cultural studies, education, and computer science), linguistics naturally bridges disciplines and thrives when incorporating diverse viewpoints. We strive to offer students thorough linguistic training, encompassing knowledge of global language diversity (both standard and non-standard forms), language structure, acquisition, evolution, and communicative functions. The Asian and Middle Eastern language programs (Arabic, Chinese, Filipino, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, and Persian, listed alphabetically) enhance the general exploration of language systems and usage, delivering instruction grounded in linguistic principles to develop students' practical communication skills in these languages.
