A learning and professional development program for individuals pursuing careers in the growing funeral service field. Funeral directors and embalmers assist grieving families, offering compassionate and skilled support during emotionally challenging times. These professionals help loved ones and communities honor life through meaningful rituals. Embalmers carefully prepare deceased individuals in accordance with family preferences and legal regulations.

Our Mortuary Science Department pioneered college-level funeral service education in Texas, founded in 1961. We maintain active membership in the University Mortuary Science Education Association. Graduates who complete the program requirements earn an Associate in Applied Science in Mortuary Science degree and qualify to take licensing examinations administered by the Texas Funeral Service Commission and the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards.
