The Department of Theological Studies at Saint Louis University provides a Master of Arts in Religious Education (M.A.R.E.) designed for students seeking preparation for roles as religious educators in parishes or theology instructors in Catholic schools. This program combines foundational theological education with teaching methodology and hands-on experience through a dual-degree partnership with SLU's School of Education.
The religious education master's program spans two years, requiring 36 credit hours. Students complete 15 credits (including a three-credit practicum) through the School of Education and 21 credits through the Theological Studies Department.
