Saint Louis University offers one of only two Bachelor of Science programs in Magnetic Resonance Imaging nationwide. SLU's MRI curriculum emphasizes rigorous scientific training, equipping graduates for both immediate employment and advanced studies. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) employs powerful magnetic fields and radiofrequency waves to produce detailed images of internal anatomy. This imaging modality excels at differentiating soft tissues, making it particularly valuable for examining the brain, spinal cord, musculoskeletal system, and other internal structures. With ever-improving image resolution and technological advancements, MRI technologists now perform an expanding range of diagnostic procedures. These healthcare professionals receive specialized training to safely operate equipment while collaborating with patients and medical teams to acquire optimal diagnostic images. MRI serves diverse medical fields including neurology, sports medicine, cardiology, pediatrics, and numerous other specialties.
