Saint Louis University's accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing track (ABSN) offers a rigorous 12-month program spanning three semesters, tailored for individuals holding a prior bachelor's degree in another discipline. Qualified undergraduates with 77 or more credits may also qualify for the junior-entry accelerated pathway. Established in 1971 by SLU's School of Nursing, this groundbreaking ABSN program was the nation's first of its kind. The curriculum was carefully designed to address increasing interest from students seeking nursing careers after completing their initial degrees. This intensive one-year BSN program delivers equivalent outcomes to the traditional four-year curriculum, featuring comprehensive learning integration, early practical application of concepts, and focused nursing coursework.
