The Spanish program equips students to become PK-12 educators. This involves finishing the outlined 30-credit major, pursuing an approved minor, and completing professional training in Modern Foreign Languages alongside Education coursework.
Students are highly encouraged to complete at least 6 credits abroad in a Spanish-speaking nation. These credits may count toward major requirements or electives, pending instructor approval.
Teacher certification candidates majoring or minoring in foreign languages must additionally achieve an Advanced Low rating or higher on the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI).
