Testing integrated circuits is a crucial component of the semiconductor industry. In reality, testing has emerged as a major constraint for numerous firms, where ineffective test programs hinder product launches. Given the limited academic programs available in this field, RHIT students possess a distinctive chance to specialize, enhancing their employability and making them highly sought-after in the integrated circuit sector.
This certificate aims to equip students with a robust foundation in test and product engineering, supplemented by additional courses relevant to the discipline. A proficient test/product engineer must be versed in integrated circuit design, systems design, board design, semiconductor manufacturing, and statistical methods. Consequently, electives for the certificate can be selected from these domains.
An electrical or computer engineering student can fulfill the test and product engineering certificate requirements without excessive course loads by aligning certificate courses with nearly all Area, Technical, and Free electives. The elective options are designed to allow students to simultaneously pursue the semiconductor certificate or a mathematics minor.
