The Jazz and Contemporary Music Studies program at CCPA equips students to excel across diverse American music styles by providing a solid foundation in jazz fundamentals. This serves as a springboard for delving into related musical forms through participation in our numerous ensembles. Designed for those passionate about modern American vernacular music and jazz, the program readies students for professional careers as performers, recording artists, and well-rounded musicians in today's industry. The curriculum aims to: nurture each student's distinctive artistic identity as both performer and composer/arranger;
cultivate an appreciation for the vast spectrum of contemporary musical traditions and expressions;
hone technical proficiency and performance skills to articulate musical concepts in various settings;
align with Roosevelt University's values by promoting social justice principles that reflect music's powerful role in cultural, political, and societal change.

Roosevelt requires applicants to attain a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 2.0 for at least 3 years of study. Students with a GPA just below 2.0 may be still considered for admission on a case-by-case basis. Self-reported information is accepted for most programs but an official transcript will be required if you are admitted to Roosevelt University.
If you took dual enrollment classes at your local community college as part of your high school diploma, you will need to submit transcripts from your community college in addition to your high school transcripts.
Roosevelt is test-optional. If you have taken the ACT or SAT we encourage you to send your scores, though these are not required for admission.
