The study of religious psychology encompasses diverse theoretical perspectives aimed at understanding the mental significance and patterns found in both group and personal religious beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors. These include frameworks from depth psychology (following Freud, Jung, and their successors), experimental research, humanistic and transpersonal approaches, as well as existential and phenomenological methods. Furthermore, multiple psychological traditions have contributed to interdisciplinary social science investigations of religion, integrating insights from sociology and anthropology.
