This program centers on enhancing comprehension of electronic, photonic, and plasmonic materials, optical physics, light-matter interactions, and applying this knowledge to create groundbreaking devices and technologies. Key research areas span a wide spectrum: Nanophotonics and plasmonics, development of optical nanosensors and nano-actuators, investigations of novel materials (especially nanomaterials and magnetically responsive materials), imaging and image processing techniques such as multispectral and terahertz imaging, ultrafast spectroscopy and dynamic processes, laser-based remote and point sensing applications (particularly for trace gas detection), nanoscale surface, molecular, and device characterization, organic semiconductor devices, single-molecule transistors, optical communication methods, light interactions with random, nanoengineered, and periodic structures, plus biomedical applications of Nanoshells.
