Learning Objectives for the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
Graduates earning a BA in Psychology will achieve the following competencies:
Explain fundamental theories, core principles, and central themes in psychology, demonstrating comprehensive understanding across psychological disciplines.
Master research methodologies and cultivate practical research abilities. Graduates will interpret various psychological research approaches and create, execute scientific investigations to explore psychological inquiries using suitable methods. They will adhere to APA ethical guidelines when working with human and animal subjects throughout research design, data gathering, analysis, and dissemination. Graduates will properly extrapolate research findings within the constraints of specific methodological approaches.
Recognize psychology's practical implementations. They will outline principal fields (including clinical, cognitive, counseling, human factors, industrial/organizational) and developing application areas (such as health, forensic, media psychology). They will determine proper uses of psychology to address challenges like: promoting healthy living and its impacts, causes and therapies for psychological disorders, psychological assessment techniques, psychological interventions in clinical, cognitive, counseling, educational, human factors, and industrial/organizational contexts, and resolving interpersonal and cross-cultural disputes. Graduates will demonstrate how psychological theories can clarify societal concerns and guide policy decisions. They will utilize psychological frameworks, models, and empirical evidence to illuminate daily experiences.
