The Industrial and Management Engineering program at Rensselaer holds accreditation from ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission, meeting the General Criteria, Program Criteria for Engineering Management and Similar Programs, and Program Criteria for Industrial Engineering and Related Programs. The ISE department provides an undergraduate curriculum in Industrial and Management Engineering (IME). During the initial two years, students establish a solid grounding in fundamental sciences, engineering principles, mathematics, humanities, and social sciences, with an emphasis on quantitative methodologies.
In the final two years, students specialize in statistics, operations research, manufacturing and services engineering, and industrial engineering techniques and models. By selecting appropriate electives, students can concentrate on their preferred specialization areas. Design projects encompass challenges in manufacturing, services, and public systems. Students should create a Plan of Study outlining their degree path and concentration by the start of their third year. The department encourages students to declare their Industrial and Management Engineering major early in their academic journey and maintain close collaboration with faculty advisors to fulfill all degree requirements.
