The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry offers students comprehensive training in chemical principles, equipping them to tackle practical challenges and pursue professional careers in chemistry or related disciplines. Our American Chemical Society-approved program combines fundamental and advanced theoretical coursework with hands-on laboratory experience, complemented by flexible electives that allow specialization, exploration of diverse interests, or customized course combinations for unique career paths. We strongly promote early involvement in undergraduate research and provide avenues to enhance vital written and verbal communication skills for professional success. Students can choose among three degree pathways: a comprehensive traditional chemistry track, a Chemical Biology concentration with biological applications focus, or an Industrial Chemistry option incorporating chemical engineering fundamentals.
The Industrial Chemistry specialization is designed for students targeting industrial careers, integrating key chemical engineering coursework into their studies. Through strategic elective selection, graduates can qualify for advanced studies in either Chemical Engineering or Chemistry. This pathway specifically enables admission to our co-terminal Master's program in Chemical Engineering. Prospective students should coordinate with Chemical Engineering faculty regarding elective choices and graduate program prerequisites.
