The Department of Drama, Theatre & Dance provides comprehensive studies suited for a liberal arts education. Blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, the program fosters a deep appreciation of dramatic, theatrical, and dance arts, preparing students for advanced graduate studies. The curriculum is designed to nurture individual abilities, serving as a springboard for those aspiring to professional conservatory training in performance or dance.
Our department features robust academic offerings in theatre (including historical studies, dramatic literature, performance, direction, production management, design, and technical theatre) and dance (encompassing modern, ballet, tap, Asian and African styles, choreography, and dance history). Annually, we stage five diverse productions across our three performance spaces, featuring everything from classical and contemporary plays to original works, musicals, operas, and dance performances. Students work alongside faculty and visiting artists, showcasing their talents to both campus audiences and the wider Queens community.
