The Kinetics, Catalysis and Reaction Engineering program educates students on designing and operating chemical and catalytic reactors, which serve as crucial components in chemical plants and oil refineries. Chemical Engineers possess specialized training in kinetics, heat and mass transfer, separations, and control, making them uniquely qualified to handle reactor systems. The faculty for this program are affiliated with the Purdue Catalysis Center (PCC) and bring expertise in catalyst synthesis, chemical kinetics, catalyst characterization, molecular theory, reactor modeling, and industrial applications. Through the PCC, students gain hands-on experience in technology development, including simulation, experimentation, and economic evaluation. Approximately 50 undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers participate in PCC projects spanning fundamental research to industrial implementation. By enrolling in this program, students will acquire cutting-edge scientific and technical knowledge, supplemented by management training, preparing them to tackle real-world challenges effectively.
